In this role you will be the ETF Sales Specialist, who will play a crucial role in promoting and selling exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to institutional clients in the Netherlands. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with institutional investors, asset managers, and other financial institutions, advocating for the benefits of investing in ETFs.

Business Unit Overview:

The Institutional Client Business (ICB) develops and maintains relationships with institutional investors including pension plans, insurance companies, family offices and industry consultants. ICB’s proposition spans the full range of BlackRock strategies and services, including both actively managed strategies and index pooled funds and ETF’s (traditional and alternative investment products).

The Dutch Institutional Client Business team is responsible for maintaining and expanding the institutional book of business in The Netherlands, in asset management and fiduciary management. It works in close partnership with Portfolio Management as well as other stakeholders – such as the Fiduciary Management teams, Legal and Compliance teams, Reporting and Operational teams – in order to adapt processes to meet customer-specific and legal requirements.

Job Purpose/Background:

In this role you will be the ETF Sales Specialist, who will play a crucial role in promoting and selling exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to institutional clients in the Netherlands. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with institutional investors, asset managers, and other financial institutions, advocating for the benefits of investing in ETFs. You will work closely together with the sales coverage teams and collaborate to identify potential clients and prospects. As part of a wider client team, you will be involved in our institutional clients’ needs and will be engaged in their strategic dialogues such as on sustainability and transition.

During the first months, the candidate will be trained to learn about BlackRock systems and the operational side of client coverage. Thereafter, the candidate will be part of the ICB team and will work in close co-operation with the Alternatives/private markets specialist sales force, the strategists for fiduciary relationships and the various other specialists and channels across the wider BlackRock organization such as the local Wealth team.  

The role reports to the Head of the Institutional Client Business, The Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, including pension funds, insurance companies, family offices and asset managers.
  • Understand their investment needs, risk tolerance, and objectives to tailor ETF solutions effectively.
  • Proactively building in-depth knowledge of BlackRock’s full product set and operational capabilities besides ETFs to aid cross sell opportunities.
  • Ensuring familiarity with industry, regulatory and market developments, like competitor offerings related to ETFs.
  • Educate clients on ETF liquidity, trading strategies, and associated costs and create educational materials and participate in industry events to promote ETFs.
  • Delivering against team sales and revenue targets by generating leads from existing clients and prospects and delivering against opportunities across the full range of BlackRock's products and services, to include cross-selling the broader platform i.e. iShares, Cash, Transition Management and BlackRock Solutions (Aladdin, eFront).
  • Sharing information internally, ensuring that the Account Management servicing teams are fully supported in delivering excellent client service.
  • Participating in local business development initiatives, RfPs and new business pitches.
  • Maintaining accurate client information on BlackRock’s database (TeamWorld).

Candidate Profile:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s/master’ degree or equivalent, ideally with a focus on finance or economics
  • 6-10  years of relevant experience within a similar role. ETF experience is a plus
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively.
  • Understanding of the Dutch Institutional (pension fund and/or insurance) market, investment industry, competitive landscape.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Proactive, people-oriented team player with good listening and networking skills, an enthusiastic, upbeat communication style and a passion for success.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with proven ability to take ownership, multi-task, and prioritize effectively.
  • Native Dutch speaker and fluent in English.
